The Best Amazon Prime Day Deal So Far Is Hidden Among the Resale Items

Amazon Prime Day is under way and although there are plenty of good deals to be found, without question the best deals I've seen so far is from Amazon's Resale section. This is Amazon's official account for used goods. Typically you'll already find deep discounts in this section, but for Prime Day there's an extra 20% to 30% off coupon that stacks with all existing discounts and is automatically applied during checkout. Eligible items include the PlayStation Portal and Nintendo Switch console, video games, Google Pixel phones and watches, PC components including graphics cards and CPUs, and more.

Amazon grades its used items and most of what I've picked out are rated as "Like New". Many "Like New" items haven't actually been used at all; they have a high chance of being untouched and in mint condition, and are simply from customers who have changed their minds or packages with unacceptable blemishes. That means you could potentially get a brand new item for a huge discount. Amazon backs all of its Resale items with a 30-day warranty the same as any other Amazon-direct purchase, so you have time to return your item if the product doesn't meet your satisfaction.

Here are some tips for selecting Amazon Resale items

(1) It is extremely important to test your product within the 30-day return period. Once the return window is up, you'll have a much more difficult time persuading Amazon to take back your product. Because your item may have previously been in the hands of another customer, you don't want to just assume that the product you're getting is in perfect working condition, especially if the packaging has been opened or tampered with in any way.

(2) For any product that involves electronics or moving parts, I'd strongly recommend sticking with "Like New" condition items only. There may be problems with the product that you might not notice right away and after the return window is up, it's too late. A "Like New" condition label helps you minimize that risk.

(3) Don't get items that are hard to return. As a general rule of thumb, I would not buy a big TV or anything else that you can't carry yourself to a nearby Amazon pickup location or UPS won't accept without an additional fee. Again, it's all about protecting yourself if there are any problems with your order.

Amazon Prime Day has officially commenced

Amazon Prime Day 2025 - the biggest sale event of the year outside of Black Friday - has officially commenced. New for this year, Amazon has elected to extend the sale to 4 days, running from July 8 to July 11. The majority of the deals are expected to go live on the first two days (July 8 and July 9), however I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon has a few surprises up its sleeve to keep the sale chugging along for the last two days. From past experience, I expect the vast majority of deals to expire promptly at midnight on July 11, so don't hesitate.
