Pokémon Go ‘Ultra Unlock Steel and Scales’ event guide

Pokémon Go’s second Ultra Unlock event following Go Fest, “Steel and Scales,” is running from July 22-27 and features the debut of Honedge, the sword steel- and ghost-type Pokémon.

Additionally, there’s also quadrupled XP and Stardust for catching Pokémon, as well as a higher chance to find shiny Bagon, Beldum, and Unown U. Rookidee is also making its shiny debut in this event, ahead of its fan-voted Community Day on Aug. 30. That being said, if you can’t find a shiny Rookidee during this event, don’t worry, as you’ll more than likely nab one on its Community Day.

There’s also a promo code for a free Gigantamax Timed Research, which isn’t part of this event technically, but it’s still worth pointing out.

The following Collection Challenges will be live throughout the duration of the event:

Steel and Scales Collection Challenge: Rookiedee

• Catch a Rookidee
• Evolve a Rookidee into Corvisquire
• Evolve a Corvisquire into Corviknight

Rewards: 2,000 XP, 1,500 Stardust, Rookidee encounter

Steel and Scales Collection Challenge: Dratini

• Catch a Dratini
• Evolve a Dratini into Dragonair
• Evolve a Dragonair into Dragonite

Rewards: 2,000 XP, 1,500 Stardust, Dratini encounter

Steel and Scales Collection Challenge: Beldum

• Catch a Beldum
• Evolve a Beldum into Metang
• Evolve a Metang into Metagross

Rewards: 2,000 XP, 1,500 Stardust, Beldum encounter

Steel and Scales Collection Challenge: Bagon

• Catch a Bagon
• Evolve a Bagon into Shelgon

Spinning a PokéStop during the event period may yield one of these tasks:

• Catch 5 Pokémon (1,000 XP or 500 Stardust)
• Catch 10 Pokémon (Bagon or Beldum encounter)
• Catch 20 Pokémon (Bronzor or Gible encounter)
• Win a raid (Goomy, Jangmo-o, or Frigibax encounter)
