The first trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is making some solid promises to fans: more animatronic horror and more Josh Hutcherson. And just like Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (the video game), Freddy’s mask becomes an important part of survival.

Picking up where the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie left off, FNAF 2 follows 11-year-old Abby (Piper Rubio), coming to terms with losing her “friends” in Freddy Fazbear and the gang. Mike (Hutcherson) and Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) are attempting to live normal lives after the events of the first film, but they can’t shake the feeling that further terror is afoot. Well, their suspicions are proven correct as the animatronic nightmares lead the characters back to the twisted Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, where Mike and Vanessa try to stop Freddy one last time.

The trailer showcases even more animatronics, alongside figures from the first film, with shots offering glimpses of Chica, Freddy, Bonnie, and Foxy terrorizing and killing people.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’s cast also includes Theodus Crane as Jeremiah and the legendary Matthew Lillard as William Afton, along with new characters played by horror icon Skeet Ulrich, McKenna Grace, Wayne Knight, and Freddy Carter.

The first Five Nights at Freddy’s film was released in 2023 and earned $297 million at the global box office, becoming Blumhouse’s highest-grossing film to date.

Blumhouse will release Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 in theaters on Dec. 5.
